Speaking in the European Parliament, Swedish MEP Charlie Weimers (ECR – SD) addresses the President of the European Council, Charles Michel.
During his speech, Weimers delivered some home truths.
Planned economy is in vogue in Brussels.

Madam / Mr. President,
following the Council meeting, the government of Swedish PM Kristersson declared that “the EU’s competitiveness is at the top of the agenda”.
One would hope so, after a term of office with over 6000 new legal acts from Brussels!
However, the only concrete thing the EU leaders came up with, was that they will discuss competitiveness once a year.
No one that has monitored the debate on the EU’s response to the American “green” corporate subsidies is surprised.
The Commission’s counter, the «Green Deal Industrial Plan», has been called “Karl Marx on steroids”.
State subsidies and micromanagement of entrepreneurship are in vogue. It is required to conform to whatever Brussels considers to be good, in order to get aid.
That’s the very opposite of competitiveness!

Mr. President,
If the EU would enforce the principle of scrapping at least one law for every new law adopted, if the EU would introduce sunset clauses that do not allow bureaucracy to grow….
THEN the Union’s competitiveness would be at the top of the agenda.
